MARK AMMERMAN was born into an artistic, literary, Christian family. For as long as he can remember, his passion was to put words and pictures together on paper. His earliest published works were cartoons in his father’s small town newspaper. His mother was a published poet. His sister Kris (who edits a roofing industry trade magazine) says “The ink is in the blood.”
Mark is an internationally published author and illustrator whose historical fiction novel Longshot was chosen by the American Library Association’s Booklist as one of the Top 10 Best Christian Fiction novels of the year 2000.
Mark’s published writing includes history, biography, historical fiction, Bible stories for children, newspaper and magazine journalism, and materials for equipping Christian leaders. He has illustrated books for many of the nation’s largest publishers, and his cartoons have been featured in newspapers, books, and magazines in the United States, South America, and Europe.
Mark enjoys hiking and biking with his wife and children, playing tennis, listening to surf guitar music, writing songs and singing, theological conversation, and reading western novels at bedtime.
Mark and his wife Terri live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where Mark is pastor of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, an historic inner-city congregation which has been serving the city of Lancaster for 170 years. Mark and Terri are foster and adoptive parents with five children of their own and three grandchildren.
